Functie

The EU E-commerce buyer is responsible for creating an exciting assortment on Steve Madden European websites that connects the customer. This candidate needs to deliver the sales and profit plan through thoughtful execution of a well conceived merchandise strategy using their fashion intuition, customer feedback and market trend to curate an assortment that will drive growth and profitability. This position is reports to the EU managing director with a dotted line to the US team.

Key Responsibilities and tasks:

BUYING:
• Create seasonal range plans and define detailed buy plans, market trends and commercial opportunities and ensure key fashion trends are well represented in the assortment;
• Manage the E-commerce buy process including creation of seasonal presentations , prepare buy sign-off meetings and oversee order entry process;
• Understand the differences between the ecommerce customer and wholesale clients;
• Select the E-commerce collection from the European and US lines/shows;
• Collaborate with the Product team in pushing exclusives and trend-driven capsules;
• Attend meetings and communicate E-commerce business needs. Establish a trusted relationship with divisions and present regular feedback to the divisions on selling performance and relevant data throughout the season.

TRADING:
• Create a trade calendar, range plan and brief associating teams;
• Work with web merchandising team to develop strong story lines for the website, emails and social channels;
• Support a successful launch of new products by briefing and giving feedback to associate teams;
• Propose trading actions to improve sales performance;
• Provide product related input on Replenishment and Markdown initiatives;
• Track and keep up with market trends and competitor activities;
• Continually evaluate the business and communicate opportunities, successes, and failures to cross functional partners;
• Manage OTB, quantify buys, and recommend mark downs.

REPORTING:
• Partner with the Planning team (US) to analyse weekly sales, monitor sell-through, present key learnings during trade meetings with digital director EMEA and managing director of SME;
• Lead monthly financial strategy meeting.

Functie-eisen

The Ideal Candidate:

• Proven track record in E-commerce merchandising / buying experience and product knowledge in the women’s footwear and private label is a preferable;
• Strong analytical skills, fact based and number driven;
• Strong planning and organizational skills;
• Teamplayer, positive and ‘can do’ attitude;
• Excellent MS Office skills (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint);
• Experience with Google Analytics, XL-enz a plus;
• Fluency in English is required.
